GOVERNOR STITT CRITICISM POLITICALLY BASED, REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN SAYS
“Ms. Andrews’ well wishes for the Governor and his family are appreciated, and she should have stopped there rather than assailing political blame on Governor Stitt for the manner in which he has handled the COVID situation,” David McLain said. “From day one of this issue, Governor Stitt has admirably led Oklahoma by quickly stockpiling PPE for health care workers, taking reasonable action within Oklahoma’s economy to flatten the curve so enough hospital beds were available, and led a responsible reopening of our economy. He has also encouraged Oklahomans repeatedly to exercise personal responsibility in managing themselves and their families. This has included repeated encouragement of hand washing, social distancing and mask wearing.”
“To blame the Governor for not taking personal responsibility for himself and his family, as Ms. Andrews said, is a cheap political statement and not grounded in fact. How does she know how the Governor and his family are dealing with COVID? The fact is the Democrat Party, whether nationally or locally, is using COVID, in a pathetic attempt to score cheap political points ahead of the November general election. Oklahoma voters will not fall for such petty tactics.”
