DURANT, OK – With the final lines of districts drawn, Conservative Republican Cody Maynard, a CPA, announces that his campaign is underway to serve Oklahomans in the State House of Representatives, District 21, which will cover parts of Bryan and Marshall counties. After a strong fundraising quarter, his team is slated to open his campaign headquarters on January 22nd on First Street in Durant.
“I am running to represent District 21 because my wife, Crystal, and I want to ensure that Oklahoma remains a beacon of freedom and a place to see dreams realized for generations to come. Serving as a legislator is an opportunity to ensure that Oklahoma is a state embodying pro-family policies, including but not limited to: protecting the pre-born, honoring the sanctity of life, advocating for parental and guardian rights, and promoting policies that reduce poverty and champion excellence in education.”
“As an experienced accountant and CPA, I will work to ensure oversight of Oklahoma taxpayer dollars both at the state and federal level. I believe we must always leave things better than we found them and be forward thinking for the fiscal health of the next generation’s prosperity while ensuring that the current generation’s pension system is fully funded to honor our retirement promises. With integrity, I will advocate for constitutional priorities and a balanced state budget that reduces state debt and grows our investments. Additionally, I will be intentional in supporting our region’s economic development by attracting emerging markets and innovative banking industries that support our strong manufacturing appeal and continue the growth of our Marshall and Bryan Counties’ Lake Texoma tourism footprint.”
Cody began his accounting career in 2009 with Hendrick Healthcare System’s accounting department, going on to serve in 2012 as Accounting Director and now Business Administrator for the eleven campuses and affiliated outreach operations that operate in partnership with Victory Life Church, including food bank, missions, and education operations which serve communities across Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado.
Cody Maynard was born in Gatesville, TX in 1986. He attended Gatesville ISD and served as a camp counselor at Camp Koinonia. Maynard graduated from Abilene Christian University with his Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Accounting and Financial Management in 2008, and then his Master of Accountancy in 2009. He and his wife Crystal have three children, and both Crystal and Cody are actively involved in community engagement activities. Crystal serves as a counselor across the Texoma region and recently filled an interim role as Executive Director for Imagine Durant.
Cody Maynard is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and serves on Victory Life Academy Lead Team, Keep Durant Clean and Green, Serve Durant, Women in Need, a domestic violence shelter, and is the organizing Treasurer of the Trail Life USA Durant Troop Committee.
