Incumbent U.S. Senator James Lankford is out with his first television ad for his 2022 reelection campaign:
Lankford is being challenged in the GOP primary by State Sen. Nathan Dahm of Broken Arrow, Tulsa pastor Jackson Lahmeyer, Joan Farr (who is also, bizarrely, running for Senate in Kansas), and Jessica Garrison (daughter of the late Democrat state senator from Muskogee, Earl Garrison).
The most recent polling that I've seen had Lankford leading the race with 56% to Dahm's 9% and Lahmeyer's 8%.
As of the most recent fundraising reports (December 31st), Lankford held a simply massive cash advantage over his challengers:
- Lankford: $4.61M raised, $2.37M spent, $2.8M cash on hand (burn rate of 51%)
- Lahmeyer: $609k raised, $537k spent, $71.5k cash on hand (burn rate of 88%)
- Dahm: $154k raised, $71k spent, $83k cash on hand (burn rate of 46%)
- Farr: none reported
- Garrison: none reported
Lahmeyer has raised a decent sum for someone who has never been involved in politics before, but his spending level is simply unsustainable. Venue rentals, catering, fireworks, and plane tickets for event speakers have eaten up a huge chunk of his spending, in addition to consulting fees and normal campaign materials.
