Let's just say Democrat gubernatorial candidate Joy Hofmeister hasn't had a great 24 hours.
It started with her going on camera to say that, when it comes to immigration issues, she supports Sanctuary Cities.
Then there was this Washington Examiner article, Democratic nominee for Oklahoma governor appears to have 'violated' state laws, experts say:
From the article:Hofmeister's page on the Oklahoma education department's website links to her gubernatorial campaign accounts on Twitter and Facebook, according to a Washington Examiner review Thursday. Her Twitter handle is "Joy4OK," and her Facebook is listed under "JoyforOklahoma," while both accounts, as is standard for political candidates, share footage of campaign events and ads.The Washington Examiner could not find examples of other Oklahoma government officials, besides Hofmeister, linking to their campaign social media accounts on pages.
Election law experts contacted by the Examiner say that Hofmeister "has likely violated Oklahoma’s ethics laws" and "could also run afoul of Oklahoma criminal law" by these actions.
Within hours, Hofmeister's Department of Education had scrubbed the illegal campaign collusion from the government website, prompting another Examiner article: Dem OK governor candidate scrubs links from website after Washington Examiner report.
The Examiner further notes,
In addition to the links, cases in which the Oklahoma Education Department's Twitter account has retweeted Hofmeister's campaign account and tagged her could spell trouble for the candidate. The Washington Examiner documented at least 19 combined cases of this occurring.
Be sure to read both articles from the Examiner: Democratic nominee for Oklahoma governor appears to have 'violated' state laws, experts say. and Dem OK governor candidate scrubs links from website after Washington Examiner report.
State Rep. Sean Roberts (R-Hominy) pointed this issue out on Twitter back on May 11th, which you can read in my post - ILLEGAL? State Dep't of Ed tags Hofmeister's campaign account on a state social media account.
Oklahomans need to vote and re-elect Governor Kevin Stitt.
