Three notoriously pro-abortion members of the Oklahoma Supreme Court are on the JUDICIAL RETENTION section of the ballot for the November 5th General Election. Under the heading Justices of the Oklahoma Supreme Court are listed separately the names of Noma Gurich, Yvonne Kauger, and James Edmondson.
All three of these justices have shown themselves to be relentlessly in opposition to protecting the lives of unborn children.
The question posed to voters in each case is “Shall ____ ____ be retained in office?” Answering YES means six more years on the Court. NO means a dignified retirement. (Yvonne Kauger is 87, James Edmondson is 79, Noma Gurich is 72.) All three were appointed to the Supreme Court long ago by pro-abortion Democratic governors.
Before Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2022, these three justices repeatedly prevented enforcement of pro-life laws which were widely viewed as constitutional even under Roe v. Wade – laws providing reasonable regulation of abortion in ways that did not prevent abortion.
Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision ruled there is no so-called “right” to abortion under the U.S. Constitution, these three justices have continued to strike down or block enforcement of newly enacted Oklahoma laws protecting preborn children.. To many observers, their rulings reveal a deep pro-abortion bias.
