An introduction and explanation

I haven't been able to blog over the past week, but there's a good reason:

Introducing Josiah Benjamin, the latest addition to the Faught family! Mother and baby are both doing well (praise the Lord for a smooth delivery last Tuesday). His three older siblings are smitten and excited to even things up with girl-boy-girl-boy... they prayed very insistently every night for this order during early pregnancy, haha!

Back to regularly scheduled programming when time allows. I've got a bit of a news backlog, for sure.

Here's a little background on his namesake:

Josiah Benjamin Faught.

Josiah and Benjamin are both biblical names, with Hebrew meanings of "God supports" and "son of the right hand" (or, alternatively, "son of the south"), respectively. Josiah is one of my favorite Old Testament figures. 1/ pic.twitter.com/MAoDFAE4wj

Josiah had the highest compliment paid to him that a king could have: "And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left." 3/

This fervent, righteous king cleansed his land of idolatry, destroyed the high places, executed and burned the bones of idolatrous priests, defiled the places of child sacrifice to end their usage, and yet he did not stop there. 5/

Josiah invaded Assyrian-controlled Samaria, not to bring security to his realm, or to extend his power, nor to defeat his enemies, nor to help his allies.

No, he did so to remove idolatry and restore the true worship of the Lord God.

And then he returned to Jerusalem. 7/

Another extraordinary compliment for Josiah:

2 Kings 23:25 "And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, & with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him." 9/

It is our prayer that our little Josiah will emulate his biblical namesake (with the exception of that Pharaoh Necho bit 😉).

May God use him, and all our other children, for His glory and the revival of our nation.
